How long does a neodymium magnet last?

The durability of magnets is a rather complex issue; for example, ferrite magnets, unlike neodymium magnets, are resistant to chemicals and rust, and can withstand temperatures of up to 250°C. Neodymium magnets permanently lose their magnetization as early as 80°C, but although they are less resistant to external factors, they have much greater magnetic force than ferrite magnets of the same size. The choice of magnet therefore depends on its intended use and the conditions under which it will be used. Neodymium magnets have taken the world by storm with their strength and are by far the most common choice among manufacturers in nearly every industry. So what about their durability??
Do neodymium magnets lose their strength??
Neodymium magnets lose about 1% of their strength over the course of a year, which means a magnet can remain effective for about 100 years. Interestingly, the neodymium magnet was invented in 1982, which means that there isn't a single neodymium magnet in the world yet that has demagnetized naturally. Of course, we're talking about magnets that aren't exposed to any external factors that could damage them. As mentioned above, one such factor is, for example, excessive temperature. If we buy a magnet with a strength that is sufficiently higher than what we ultimately need, we’ll be able to enjoy its performance for as long as several decades.
The Durability of Neodymium Magnets
These magnets are manufactured by compressing powdered metals (neodymium, iron, and boron) at high temperatures. In addition, the already compressed material is coated with three layers of Ni (nickel), Cu (copper), and Ni (nickel) again.. Unfortunately, this design and the high strength of neodymium magnets make them prone to cracking and crumbling. They should be joined and separated by sliding them together to prevent them from colliding with each other from a greater distance. Careless handling of magnets can result in scenes such as these:

How can you care for magnets so they retain their properties for many years?
First and foremost, avoid installing the magnet in areas where it is likely to be struck, to prevent it from breaking or chipping.. It is also important that it not be exposed to moisture, chemicals, or temperatures exceeding 80°C. A magnet, when used as intended and in accordance with the guidelines listed above, can last for as long as several decades!
